Privacy Policy
How we handle your data at TryMeEffective date: July 26, 2026 · Last updated: July 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TryMe collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our try-before-you-buy sampling platform. TryMe connects shoppers with free clean-beauty samples and returns honest, skin-tagged reviews to the brands that make those products. Please read this policy alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are and scope
TryMe is operated by TryMe, Corp ("TryMe", "we", "us", "our"). This policy applies to the TryMe website, the TryMe web application, and related services (together, the "Service"). It does not apply to the practices of brands, retailers, or third-party sites we link to, each of which has its own privacy practices.
If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at hello@tryme.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information, most of it directly from you.
Account and authentication information
When you create an account, authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk. Clerk manages your email address, your name, and your authentication credentials. We do not store your password, passwords and login credentials are handled by Clerk. We receive from Clerk the identifiers we need to recognize your account, such as your email, name, and a user ID.
Skin profile
To match you with relevant samples, we collect the skin information you provide, such as your skin type and your skin concerns. You provide this yourself, typically through our sample-matching quiz, and you can update it in the app.
Fulfillment information
When you claim a sample, we collect the details needed to deliver it:
- Physical samples, your shipping name and address, so the sample can be shipped to you.
- Digital samples, your phone number, which we verify, so we can deliver your digital redemption and confirm eligibility.
Reviews you write
When you write a review, we collect the rating and text you submit. Reviews are public and are displayed with your skin-type tag (for example, "combination skin") so other shoppers can judge relevance. Reviews are not published with your name, email, address, or phone number.
Usage and device data
When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, your device and browser type (user-agent), and basic analytics about how you interact with the Service.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for two main purposes: keeping you signed in (authentication session) and understanding how the Service is used (analytics). See the "Cookies" section below for more detail.
3. How we use your information
- Match you to samples, to recommend and offer samples suited to your skin profile.
- Fulfill and ship claims, to ship physical samples, deliver digital samples, and keep you informed about the status of your claims.
- Prevent fraud and abuse, to keep sampling fair, including duplicate-account checks and verification of addresses and phone numbers to detect and prevent abuse.
- Publish your reviews, to display your honest, skin-tagged reviews to other shoppers and to the relevant brand.
- Improve the Service, to operate, secure, debug, analyze, and improve the platform and our matching.
- Communicate with you, to send service and transactional messages and, where you have opted in, updates about new samples.
4. How we share your information
Sharing with brands
Important: when you claim a physical sample, we share your name and shipping address with that brand (or its fulfillment partner) so they can deliver it to you. This is necessary to fulfill your claim.
Otherwise, brands receive only aggregate, de-identified audience data (for example, anonymized trends about how a sample performed across skin types) and your public reviews (tagged with your skin type). Brands do not receive your contact details, address, phone number, or email unless you claimed their physical sample.
Service providers and processors
We share information with providers who process it on our behalf, only so they can provide their service to us:
- Clerk, authentication and identity.
- Cloudflare, hosting and our database.
- Stripe, billing for brands (Stripe is used for brand billing, not for shopper payments, shoppers do not pay for samples).
- Address-verification providers, to validate shipping addresses and help prevent abuse.
- Email and analytics providers, to send communications and understand usage.
Other disclosures
We may disclose information to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect our rights and users' safety, prevent fraud, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. In any such transaction, we will continue to protect your information consistent with this policy.
We do not sell your personal information
TryMe collects data directly from shoppers with their participation. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. Public reviews may remain visible after account closure, in de-identified form (with your skin-type tag but not your name or contact details).
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, and we rely on established providers such as Clerk and Cloudflare. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion, and opt out of certain communications or processing. You can update much of your profile directly in the app.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@tryme.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, the right to request deletion of your personal information, the right to request correction, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As noted above, we do not sell your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact hello@tryme.com.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: to perform our contract with you (for example, fulfilling sample claims); our legitimate interests (for example, preventing fraud and improving the Service); your consent (for example, optional marketing and certain cookies); and to comply with legal obligations.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International transfers: your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.

If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@tryme.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. Cookies
